Lyrics My Mate George . 1) My mate George he loves a cup of tea His nearly-worn-out slippers and his faithful old TV He goes walking in the bluebell woods, and bustling through the town And he likes to watch Dads Army if hes ever feeling down 2) My mate George he likes a pint of beer And complaining bout the weather, and how things have changed round here He tries to face lifes problems with a stiff upper lip He likes a good hot curry, and he loves his fish and chips (Chorus) My mate George he wears an old flat cap Or he might wear a boater or his posh bowler hat And although he sometimes works too hard and struggles with his health We all love him cause he takes the mick out of himself 3) My mate George he likes The Rolling Stones And his daughter put The Beatles on his new mobile phone He adores his local theatre group, his dog-eared Penguin books Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding like his grandma used to cook 4) My mate George he likes a game of darts Playing board games with his mum, and playing football in …

@GORFF987 Indeed! George is also apparently the patron saint of Portugal, Lithuania, Malta, soldiers and – less obviously – skin diseases and syphilis. So maybe we should have a bank holiday on April 23rd, if only to have a jolly good scratch.

MyMateGeorge: I think this clip is great….you certainly have a talent for genuine entertainment and I enjoyed the lyric immensely…you convey the image of this thoroughly English bloke George so well…he’s like many I know personally and makes me proud to live in England…in Herefordshire…..I could not live anywhere else but England and I am grateful for all the great things about it and I wish more English people did the same.

Hi. I thought you might enjoy the ‘Amnesty Busker’s videos too. He looks kind of familiar. Can’t post a link here, but just put Amnesty Busker into the search thing…

Quite right about the self-promotion. Not the done thing atall. Best to keep one’s head down, muddle through and all that. Obviously this tape was stolen and put up here by someone calling themselves mymategeorge, who then gave me the password. Being English I’ve decided I can’t make a fuss about it, and it is only polite to reply to everyone’s messages. What a bind! Best foot forward, stiff upper lip.
Wot wot.
